Give Blogging a Try

One of the quickest ways to learn new technology is to jump in and try it. Some of you may already have experience with weblogs, but others might not. Each participant should read from the questions below and chose one to respond to. Please copy and paste your question into your comment. The prompts should get you thinking about something you feel qualified to "blog" about, and provide an introduction to other classmates.

1. Read any good books lately? Tell us about one.
2. Go to (or look out) a window. Describe what you see, and why we should care.
3. What headline in today's paper got your interest? Why? What paper is it?
4. What's the most interesting thing you found on the Internet lately? Link to it in your posting and share why you like it.
5. What's your favorite sports team? Why?
6. Describe the best teacher workshop you've ever taken.

5. What's your favorite sports team? Why?

My favorite sports team has a very storied past in its sport. That sport is football and the team is THE FIGHTING IRISH OF NOTRE DAME and any team that beats Michigan. This is ironic since I was born and raised in Michigan and that the University of Michigan donated used uniforms to the first Notre Dame team. That is why the colors are similar. My passion for the team grew from a young child watching Notre Dame replays on Sunday mornings, to challenging non ND supporters in friendly wagering, to now being a stadium usher at all home games. There is nothing like watching a great college football game in person. GO IRISH!!

5. What's your favorite sports team? Why?

I am definately going to have to agree w/ David Bremer here^ My favorite sports team of all time is the Chicago Bears.
I love the Bears because I was born and raised in Chicago. As a child, I went to numerous games, which developed my love of the game. The team is the second oldest team in the NFL, and without them and "Pappa Bear," there probably wouldn't be an NFL today.
Moving to Indiana didn't diminish my love for the Bears, it only made it stronger. I watch my Bears religiously, and go to a couple of games each year. Heck, in my wedding vows (which my wife made me write), I vowed to "love, honor, cherish, and devote my full time to you, except for the three hours each week that the Bears are playing. During that time, I expect you to be right on the couch besides me." (She loved that line)
I have a fully finished basement in my house which is covered wall-to-wall with Bears memorabilia. Since I go home twice a month, I attend autograph signing shows all of the time. I get lots of pics, helmets, and jerseys signed by team members past and present. In one room of my basement alone, I have 75+ autographed mini helmets, and over 100 signed photos.
The best thing about the Bears is their love for their fans. My experiences with players over the years at signings, training camp, and games has been excellent. And because of that, I will be a Bears fan until I die!!! Go BEARS!!!

1. Read any good books lately?
I enjoy reading Christian fiction. I just finished reading Cape Refuge by Terri Blackstock. This book is a murder mystery book with some surprising twists. The story takes place on the island of Cape Refuge (hence the name of the book) and involves a place called Hanover House. Hanover House is a home run by a couple and its purpose is to give people a second chance. The people who come to live at Hanover House include excons, strays, reformed addicts, etc. When the couple is found murdered, the entire island is shocked. The couple has two daughters who are forced to make some big decisions including the fate of Hanover House. The story is suspenseful and makes the reader evaluate steretypes while at the same time instilling hope.
